Choosing the right equipment is undoubtedly one of the most important aspects of creating your personal home theater.  Having improper equipment in a well built theater can be devastating.  There are many choices when deciding what componentry you would like to use.  Ultimately the choices come down to what the desired end result is for the homeowner.

The equipment list is composed of both audio and video components.  This will be the projector and screen or TV, blur ray/ DVD players, music servers, audio distribution systems, receivers/ pre amps, amplifiers, control centers, speakers, wires, remote controls, etc.
